Our blog posts have had a little break but now we're up and running again! During the last few months we've found a temporary office space, expanded our online business, participated in book fairs, and hosted Daybreak Days (women's prayers throughout the Muslim holy month of Ramadan).
We've really enjoyed engaging in the community for the past few months. We've participated in a number of book fairs including a Malcolm X Book Fair with Minnesota Save the Kids, Meet Your Muslim Neighbor at the Northwest Islamic Community Center, several Eid bazaars, and Grand Old Days.
If you would like to come visit us, our temporary office is located at 475 N Etna St, Suite 7, St. Paul MN 55106. We're here Mon-Fri from 10am to 5pm. Or if you'd like to buy books online, feel free to do so on our website.
Keep checking back for more blog updates!
We love sharing our passion for literature, and last weekend we had the opportunity to do so at two community events.
On Saturday we went to Plymouth's Northwest Islamic Community Center for their Annual Family Spring Bazaar. As people browsed the aisles of food, clothing, and jewelry vendors they stopped by our booth to see a selection of our history, theology, and literature books, as well as some of our favorite Islamic children's books.
At the Islamic Institute of Minnesota in Burnsville, we set up a table at their kid's prayer workshop. We loved seeing young students take an interest in reading, and enjoyed helping parents pick out books for their children.
All in all, it was wonderful to get involved communities outside the Twin Cities, and get to know some of our Muslim neighbors!
The Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) Conference is the largest literary conference in North America. An annual celebration of teachers, students, writers, editors, publishers, as well as anyone with a passion for the written word, we are excited to be part of it. Daybreak Press is among 700 literary organizations featuring their work at AWP this year. Tomorrow, April 11th, is the last day of the conference, so be sure to stop by our booth (306) before then!
Spring is finally coming -however hesitantly- to Minnesota! To celebrate the seasons changing and in honor of Earth Day, here at Daybreak we are dedicating ourselves in the month of April to the environment. With that in mind, we have a lovely selection of books on gardening, loving the earth, and locally sourced goodness to brighten up your springtime reading! Whether you want to spruce up you herb garden or refresh your knowledge on honey tasting, we have a book for you and your spring reading needs!
