One morning Carolina wakes up, determined to change something in her life. She has had enough of living her monotonous daily routine and craves something else, something unusual. How about a trip around the world? Her adventure takes her to the Middle East, Africa and Oceania. During her travels she encounters endangered mountain gorillas, walks with wild lions, and flirts with adrenaline boosting activities like bungee jumping. But what does this experience bring her spiritually? Does it awaken feelings which were lying dormant inside her; unreal some of the preoccupations she had about life; or simply bring her inner peace and satisfaction?

'Mint Tea to Maori Tattoo' is a travel story written by Carolina Veranen-Phillips, who traveled the world in 2002-2003. She went to the Middle East, Africa and Oceania; traveled through countries like Syria, Egypt and Zimbabwe way before these current political crisis. It eloquently blends travelogue with self-discovery as it charts a young woman's journey for cultural awareness and personal revelation. An altogether inspiring read.

Carolina Veranen-Phillips was born in Portugal, with a French mother and a Finnish father, and having lived in various countries around the world, including Portugal, France, the US, the UK, and currently Germany, Carolina has always been interested in the cultural differences embedded in our world. In her debut book, Carolina wants to share with you her personal adventure throughout the world, as a backpacker, as well as her love for the unknown, for meeting people and for self-discovery. She now lives in Munich, with her husband and their two boys.
